'Two more Earths needed by 2050'

Earth's population will be forced to colonise two planets within 50 years if natural resources continue to be exploited at the current rate, according to grim report by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) issued to coincide with the World Summit in Johannesburg. The Living Planet Report 2002, warns that the human race is plundering the planet at a pace that outstrips its capacity to support life. In a damning condemnation of Western society's high consumption levels, it adds that the extra planets (the equivalent size of Earth) will be required by the year 2050 as existing resources are exhausted. The report, based on scientific data from across the world, reveals that more than a third of the natural world has been destroyed by humans over the past three decades. Using the image of the need for mankind to colonise space as a stark illustration of the problems facing Earth, the report warns that either consumption rates are dramatically and rapidly lowered or the planet will no longer be able to sustain its growing population.

"A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

Never, never put your banana in the refrigerator! !! This is interesting. After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again.Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fibre. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas could provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.
Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.
PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.
Anaemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of haemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anaemia.
Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.
Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.
Constipation: High in fibre, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.
Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.
Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.
Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.
Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.
Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Australia found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.
Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.
Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.
Smoking & Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.
Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.
Strokes: According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!
Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with plaster or surgical tape! So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around. So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

lets laugh for a while

Is hell exothermic or endothermic? Options The following is a question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term. The answer by one student was so unusual that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the internet, which is of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well. Bonus question: Is hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following: First, we need to know how the mass of hell is changing in time. So, we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in hell because Boyle's law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in hell to stay the same, the volume of hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added. This gives two possibilities: 1. If hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter hell, then the temperature and pressure in hell will increase until all hell breaks loose. 2. If hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in hell then the temperature and pressure will drop until hell freezes over. So which is it? If we accept the postulate given to me by Theresa during my freshman year that, "It will be a cold day in hell before I sleep with you", and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then No. 2 must be true, and thus I am sure that hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct...leaving only heaven thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why last night, Theresa kept shouting, "Oh my God! Oh, my God!" This student received the only "A".

WHAT U WANT TO BE>>>>>>>>>

A washer man was bringing up two donkeys.Let's say Donkey-A and Donkey-B.Donkey-A felt it was very energetic n could do better than the other. Italways tried to pull the washerman's attraction over it by taking more load n walking fast in front of him.Innocent Donkey-B is normal, irrespective of thewasherman's presence. After a period of time, Washerman startedpressurising Donkey-B to be like Donkey-A.

It was crying n told personally to Donkey-A "Dear friend, only we two are here, why to competewith each other..That made Donkey-A all the more energetic n next dayit told to washermanthat it can carry more load n even it can run fast also. Obviously happier washerman looked at Donkey-B.., his BP raised nhestarted kicking Donkey-B. Next day, Donkey-A carried more loadand started running fast. But it was breathtaking for Donkey-B.The washerman was frustrated, so he harassed Donkey-B terribly.

Then Donkey-A felt itself as a supremo n happily started carrying moreload with great speed. But now the Load of the Donkey-B is also beingcarried by Donkey-A.,For some period it did, finally due to fatigue it got tired and started feeling the pain. But washerman expected more from Donkey-A.but couldn't cope up with his owners demand.
The Washerman got angry with Donkey-A also and started harassing...Donkey-A was crying for long time... But it couldn't meet the owner's satisfaction. Finally the day came when due to frustration the washermankilled Donkey-A and went for searching some other Donkeys. Its an endless story..But the moral of the Story in Corporate and social life is., "Think all colleagues are same and that everyone is capable.. AlwaysShare the Load equally..Don't ever act smart in front of your Boss andnever try for getting over-credit..

Don't feel happy when ur colleague is under pressure.." It doesn't matter if u r A or B, for the Boss u shall be always DONKEYAnd most importantly, Never Work Hard, Work Cleverly.. !!!

WHAT IS LIFE?

What is life? Does this sound like a strange question to you? Of course we all know what is meant by the word "life", but how would you define it? Do all living things move? Do they all eat and breathe? Even though we all seem to know what is meant by saying something is "alive", it's not very easy to describe what "life" is. It's almost as hard as describing where life came from. Even the biologists (people who study life) have a tough time describing what life is! But after many years of studying living things, from the mold on your old tuna sandwich to monkeys in the rainforest, biologists have determined that all living things do share some things in common: 1) Living things need to take in energy

2) Living things get rid of waste

3) Living things grow and develop

4) Living things respond to their environment

5) Living things reproduce and pass their traits onto their offspring

6) Over time, living things evolve (change slowly) in response to their environmentTherefore, in order for something to be considered to "have life" as we know it, it must possess these characteristics.

LIFE FULLY SO THAT WE CAN DIE HAPPY

We live in an age where we have conquered the highest of mountains but have yet to master ourselves. We have taller buildings but shorter tempers, more possessions but less happiness, fuller minds but emptier lives.

I quote James M. Barrie: “The life of every man is a diary in which he means to write one story, and writes another; and his humblest hour is when he compares the volume as it is with what he vowed to make it.”
If I had only a year more to live, would I feel happy with the story I have lived thus far? Often, there is a gap between how we wish to be seen and who we really believe ourselves to be, between the story we meant to write and the one we’ve written so far.

The most common reason for an unfulfilled life is our complaining nature. If I am not as fulfilled or as happy or as prosperous as I know I could be, let me stop blaming my parents or my friends or the financial system or everybody else around me, and take total responsibility for my circumstances.
We spend more time focusing on our weaknesses rather than developing our strengths, thus letting die the strong potential that dwells deep inside of us to achieve the extraordinary while we live. The motivation to set our Goals & work tirelessly towards achieving them must come from deep within and must awaken the go-getter-attitude in us. Gone are the days when Opportunities would come knocking at our door, and if we would take no action, they would return back to us again, so we could eventually take them up. Today, an Opportunity comes to us only occasionally on a Golden Platter and if we do not capitalize on it, there are hundreds of others outside, waiting and watching vigilantly like hungry lions waiting to pounce on their prey. According to George Bernard Shaw, “The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want and if they can’t find them, make them.”

The ancient Eastern thinking is such that, to live a fulfilling life, one must do 3 things: Have a Son, write a Book and plant a Tree. By doing so, the thinking goes, one will leave 3 legacies that will live on long after he dies. It is very important to make a mark in this world, a distinct impression of our self, by the things we do and say, so that we will be remembered for long after we are gone.

So let us realize that every dawn brings with it the corresponding opportunity to begin a completely new day and live our life to the brim, for after all, we get to live our Life only Once.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day

The big day is finally here! Are you ready? Have you planned out your meal and purchased present? Do you have an outfit? As we celebrate love and romance today, take a moment to think about courtship rituals of the past. These days, flowers and chocolate are the most common presents given on Valentine's Day. But perhaps someday these tokens of love will seem quaintly adorable, like the old English tradition of gifting the person of your fancies a pair of gloves. Wearing the gloves signified a return of affections, a ritual a bit more complicated than a quick trip to the florist.

Are we safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As being a developing country, Malaysia had opened its door to the foreign student to persuade their study. Malaysia, with its diverse population, moderate climate and friendly people has created a better place to get education. Providing state-of-art facilities for them there are certain areas in which the government is disappointing them.
There have been many cases where student are facing problems with colleges and universities, where these institutions appoint different agents who have been providing false information and in reality the whole thing turns upside down when the student arrival here .In other hand, the institute seems to be irresponsible toward this kind of thing they only look for the money and no of students to enroll. Not only colleges the country security service personal is also no cooperating with foreigner student and treating according to their nationality. Some time they even denied accept the student card issued by immigration office of Malaysia and there have been many incidents where the local police are trapping this foreign student as to get money. up to these thing you are safe but the worst thing is from the robbers and the snatchers, everyday we can read in many newspaper of robbery and snatching case where they don’t even take money and other items but the person are beaten up badly and even to the death.
There are many other problems in which the government has to look as to assure these foreign student to feel them safe and comfortable living in Malaysia.

Finding my voice...

If I could, I'd take you each by hand and lead you into a quiet clearing under a ceiling of tree branches so we could talk. There are a lot of things I want to say, but I find it hard to say them lately. I feel secretive and silent and a little bit scared lately.
I tell myself that it's okay, that I don't owe you anything that I am allowed to keep as much as I want to myself. But the truth is I want to be loud and brave as I've been in the past. Some days, I'm bursting to tell stories about my adventures and relationships and plans and changes. I just don't know where to begin, so I never do. Soon, too much time has passed, and it's a closed chapter in a book.
The real stories, I know, are those filled with ache and beauty and truth. Those are the ones I like to hear. Those are the ones I want to tell. I just need the courage to tell them.
I am trying to find my voice again. I suspect that wherever it is, I'll find my hope and faith there, too.

Always the same

Is it me or do all fireworks displays look the same? I was watching the opening of the Asian Games in Qatar and listened to the commentators ooh and aah over the fireworks on show at the end. Sure, they look great lighting up the dark sky. My point is, it's been that way as long as I can remember. Doesn't it get old at some point? Can't the fireworks people come up with something new - maybe something that doesn't leave a cloud of black smoke behind. What are all the scientists doing? We definitely need some innovations in this area.
